Chapter 2 – “Is it just me?”

After reading Chapter 2 I thought of the loneliness and fear that can strike you when you are in the middle of a bad and painful time.
I thought of the sense of being alone if you have a poor image of yourself and especially if you think the world believes you are a failure too…..an ugly duckling in fact. That reminded me of the Hans Christian Anderson story of “The Ugly Duckling”. That “duckling” eventually grew into a beautiful swan.
I decided to paint a swan’s nest with the first egg cracking open and the cygnet looking around and thinking “Is it just me here?” I surrounded the nest with darkness. Where were the parent birds? Surely they were close by watching and listening as the other eggs began to hatch.
